What is the difference between the B.A. and M.A.T. in Secondary Education?

The B.A. is designed for students beginning their undergraduate path toward becoming a teacher, while the M.A.T. is designed for students who already have a bachelor’s degree and want to pursue teacher licensure at the graduate level.

Yes. By completing the Secondary Education program, students can earn a Professional Educator License from the State of Illinois and be licensed to teach grades 9–12.

Subject-area options vary by degree path. The B.A. in Secondary Education offers endorsement pathways in English or Math, while the M.A.T. in Secondary Education offers content areas such as English, Biological Science, Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences.
